Since the last post we had to stay on the Island Poel until Monday 16.04 when received the info that the tripod was delivered so we left for Rostock post haste to pick it up. Dead chuffed with it I am. Whacking big monster it is. Certainly no excuse in future for wobbly photos.
From Rostock we drove straight on to Mönkebude on the way to the Polish border. Camped at N 53° 46'18" E 13°58'18".
17.04.12 Left early and decided to change our minds yet again and missed out all of the first half of the north coast and headed straight for Leba. We had tried the missed out bit two years ago on the way to meet up with the Murmansk trip folks. Bit like Blackpool all of the way. Leba is on the edge of the Slowinski National Park. Camped at N 54°45'42" E 17°33'54" nice little place on the edge of the town with one other camper on it. As usual we are ahead of the season. Had a look around in the evening and at the moment it is quite pleasant and quiet but I'd hate to be hear in the peak season.

18.04.12 Took a walk through the wood bordering on the Baltic Sea to the Dunes. They call the area the Polish Sahara and they are apparently the largest area of wandering dunes in Europe. Bit of a disappointment after the Middle East though. Again the bird life is fantastic and even with my bird book am having trouble ID 'ing everything. It is Stork country as well and almost every chimney stack and pole has a nest with two birds in it. Where the farmers are at wrk ploughing their fields it is quite amusing as they line up behind the tractor like Guardsmen and pick away
19.04.12 had a 130 km drive to the other side of the lake to a place called Kluki which has a bit of history to it. The countryside is wonderful and of course for what we are used to almost uninhabited. The amount of free ranging wild animals is also quite an unusual sight for us townies. Tomorrow is a short run to Hela which is on the spit of land which sweeps out from west to east at the top of the
