Set off on 21.03 and after a good first four days stopped on the fifth in Ballangen which is about half an hours drive south of Narvik of overnight. Checked in and on trying to move to designated pitch van would not start. Five days later I'd had it fixed, starter motor had passed away. Was towed into Narvik to a VW garage who diagnosed this but had to wait over the wee end for the part to be delivered.
Arrived in Tromsø on the 03.03. 04.03 had to find another VW garage as the hose for the windscreen wash unit had broken. Brittle plastic in sub zero temperatures.
After this was fixed I found a location for the evening to catch the lights as there were perfect conditions. While waiting noticed that the suspension was settling more than is usual. Quick check and found that the front left bellows was leaking and losing pressure completely. Must have been punctured when I hit a pothole the day before. Very foul language emanated from the vehicle and I had to make the obvious decision and call it all off. To dangerous to drive anywhere like that and especially under the conditions up there.
Spent the next day calming down and headed back south on the 06.03 and was back in DUS on the 09.03.
Very brassed off. Cannot get a date before the 08.04 with the folks to get it repaired. So all plans change again.
