Spent most of the day driving around checking out some of the locations that a lot of the self styled experts claim to be THE best locations for Aurora watchers, from a photographers POV that is. All in all covered 200 km., and for a change had fair weather although terrible windy.

Furthest north on the jaunt up the west coast was Eggum, right of the beaten track and talk about exposed. Next stop due West is the top of the bottom third of Greenland, (if you prefer you could also think of it as being bottom of the middle third I suppose). If that makes any sense? Even goes north of Iceland. All bye the bye, sure you wus all desperate to be knowing this.

Where I stopped would be a great position except for the fact that it gets really bashed by the wind, additionally a dirty big mountain is right behind it, so the wind of course whips the snow off it, turns it into tiny bits of ice which literally "ice blast" you. Which I'm inclined to believe can't be too good for the optics.

On the way back out stopped in at, Unstad, Haukland and then Uttakleiv. All great look-outs and definitely worth a try but it could get a bit crowded with like minded folks if a good forecast is about. Very small villages with very little parking facilities or possibilities. Have to see.

Getting to them brought a new experience with it. Lots of tunnels in Norway and I've been
through quite a number of them. These were first in that they were single track tunnels with passing places throughout. Bit like Scotland underground.

Didn't get up to much imaging wise very sparse pickings today I'm afraid. You know where to look.

I'm wondering if it is the photographer not the weather....
